Plumbing has existed early as 2700 B.C. People living near the Indus River were the first to take interest in building plumbing systems. Civilizations have risen and fallen but plumbing has not improved significantly until modern times.
What is plumbing? It can simply be compared to a toothbrush and toothpaste. Toothbrush cannot be totally effective without the use of toothpaste. The same concept applies to an economically developed city and its plumbing. A city cannot acquire clean water without plumbing. A good plumbing system helps ensure the proper disposal of water base wastes and isolation of clean water from dirty water.
As populations grow, more buildings are erected. As more buildings are erected, so grows the demand for good plumbing systems. Since the plumbing industry is growing, so should its technology, considering that more people are putting their heads together to produce better plumbing equipment and systems. Due to man’s growing need for improvement of plumbing services, plumbing has ultimately become a science, if not an art.
Different situations require different plumbing approaches. The plumbing system requirements for an average house will be totally different to the requirements of a high-rise building. Although, the basic concepts of the two plumbing systems will be the same, different factors need to be taken into account before a decision can be reached.
